my Fly Forward

21/01/2018

The construction of this shawl is simply awesome – texture with ease. I used a one size smaller needle (4.0mm) to better complement my yarn. In my opinion there is an error in the pattern – to get some width to the shawl that is. I made some changes in mine.

my Stripes Galore

30/11/2017

The construction of this shawl was pure awesomeness! When i first saw a picture of the shawl in facebook i was in deep curiosity – how is that done, like i am with most knits that have diverse constructions. I hollered for interest to test knit the piece and got lucky to get the privilege to do just so 😛

I was on a holiday so this knit took me lil over a week. And o-boy! This was the perfect Netflix-knit! I was able to watch a South-Korean TV-show (with subtitles) and make no errors! The knit just flowed.

color affection

05/03/2017

This is a gift-knit for a traveling friend. Colors used were inspired from Finnish nature (and the yarn used is from Finland).

Pattern was a bit of a surprise i was doing good until i reached half way on the 3rd section. I got confused and went for a ravelry project gallery hunt to take a look at other knits from this pattern! 😀 I did not get the feeling from the pattern that the end of 3rd section would not reach the end of 2nd section 😀 I was running low on my MC (Itämeri) thou i thought i could make it 🙂 Anyway – viewing some other knits from this pattern it all made sense 🙂 (thanks ravelry -peeps!)

something else to say abt this knit

Another brainless knit. Am super happy with the colors i chose and the yarn! Oh! The knit has texture and some gloss (from Itämeri 50/50 silk-wool). My favourite from the three is thou Vänö Ull Lammull (finnsheep) the black-white texture is such a joy for sight and the fiber so soft. I hope Kerä will get/make more of this – i got the last once from a local fair. #sad

Knitted with DROPS alpaca mix yarn in 3 shades. This is a pattern by Stephen West. A well written and easy pattern. I would recommend this to all looking for some mildly brainless knit 🙂

a Metalouse Shawl

08/02/2017

Knitted from 100% wool. I started this knit with Auracania Botany Lace first – but the color changes were just too wild and short that i thought ill of for this knit. Too busy. So i went for 2 solid colors.

Corrugated ridge (what a .. i had to PURL! 😀 *whine*)

something else to say abt this knit

This was an easy knit – but for the beginning getting into the flow of a corrugated ridge took some warming up. After a few rows it was easy to follow – where i was and only had to unravel once .. over MC change.

a Sunny Blizzard

Knitted this from 100% lace weight merino (yarn link to ravelry). Used 4mm needles and knit it in all over garter stitch. In the pattern it only has a few purl rows to enhance the lace rows -> but why not all rows in garter? This was sort of my first try at shetland style lace – where (at least according to the magic of shetland lace knitting -book – ravelry link) the lace is mostly done in garter stitch.

something else to say abt this knit

Garter stitch in lace – to me – is more fun. If the lace is done every other row – it should be super simple to follow. This one had lace every 6th row or so – so keeping up with the rows was necessary in the beginning.
